Quaich is a Scots rendering
of the Gaelic word "Cuach",
meaning a cup. It is the
traditional Scots drinking
vessel for whisky and
brandy, the distinctive
shape dating back to
medieval times. Originally
of wood they have been
made principally from pewter
since the 17th century.
Used as a visitors welcome
or farewell by Clan chiefs
and humble crofters alike.
The quaich retains its
simple but beautiful shape
and friendly purpose to this
day.
Wrought in old-fashioned pewter plated with
palladium, extremely durable and tarnish free. The quaich is mounted on a wooden plinth
